Hazardous location product design and certification were key competencies developed while working on products for Sensonix Inc. in Plymouth, MN.
Proprietary low-power wireless network design for sensor monitoring applications and solar rechargeable battery supplies contributed to a completely wireless development experience.
Design work included, electronic PCB development, PCB layout, 8-bit and 32-bit firmware, test station design and development with visual PC software and DAQ interface, RF design, product literature support, and manufacturing integration.
Secondary Contract Design Support
Secondary contract design and support for wireless controlled flashing traffic signs was an exercise in solar, outdoor battery charging, LED lighting, battery management, and wireless networking all rolled into one.
While developing a custom product is an important part of support, updating the product to support new applications of the original product is the true strength behind a custom designed product.
Support includes electronics design, firmware development, manufacturing integration, and test station development. Sometimes your tool needs just a little bit of modification to make it fit the application for that one Big opportunity and if you own the design then it's much easier to fine tune for those big opportunities.
Independent consulting for LVX System
While high power LED design has been the focus of many projects, communications has also been recurring. LED drive electronics and photo receiver electronics were developed for LVX System Inc in the first commercial application of a wireless system of communication through visible light.
Valid supplier and Certification Engineer
Currently working with some of the most prestigious companies in the world as a consultant on explosive atmospheres electronic design and certification.
Independent Consulting Embedded Design
Engineering can have a little fun mixed in, especially when you get to play with lasers. Embedded design with applications that require maximum battery life while inactive, yet capable of providing battery crushing draw while active, is an important part of many hand held applications.
911 Emergency Products Inc.
Experience in LED design was there from the start at 911 Emergency Products Inc. in St. Cloud, MN. Electrical hardware design and manufacturing experience was gained at 911EP along with designing to SAE photo-metric requirements. The Millenium LED light bar, the predecessor to the Galaxy Lightbar shown above, was the first LED based emergency vehicle light bar in the world. The Galaxy had improvements such as CAN 2.0 communication and switching power supplies used to drive the LEDs more efficiently.
